Travel Tips & Tricks

How to get the most from your holiday photos

Do a digital photography course

Capturing moments comes down to more than the device you’re using. A great photograph takes skill and an eye for detail. If you’ve got time before you go, be sure to enrol in a short digital photography course. This way at the end of your journey you’ll have photos you‘ll want to show off for years to come.

Be inspired

Before your trip, jump on and create destination boards using other photographers as inspiration. This will give you a feel for where to go and what to expect.

The early bird gets the best shots

Get up early on your holidays, the best lighting can often be found at sunrise! Not only will those photos look amazing but you’ll also get opportunities to capture popular destinations without tourists getting in the way.

Go above and beyond

It’s great to get immersed in your place of travel. Given the opportunity, be sure to go outwards and upwards! This will allow you to get those breath-taking birds eye views of your destination.

Protect your device

It’s devastating to lose photo memories so be sure to back-up your photos. Great waterproof and shockproof covers are available for most devices. If you’re prone to Murphy’s Law, be sure to cover your items with travel insurance.

Go without

Don’t forget life’s experiences can’t be fully lived through a lens. Leave the camera behind, take time to be in the moment and become engaged with the culture!

“Look and think before opening the shutter. The heart and mind are the true lens of the camera” – Yousuf Karsh
