How to best document your overseas adventures

Keeping a journal of memories and experiences from your travel adventures is a great way to document your trips. Plus, they have a way of sending you straight back to that quirky café in France or cosy boat tour throughout Venice when you revisit the stories in years to come. Today, keeping journals of your adventures and keeping loved ones up to date with your trip go hand in hand. There are a number of different ways you can keep track of your travels and keep your loved ones up to date in the process. Here are some of our favourite, yet simple,  ways to track your next travel adventure:

Keep a journal

Keeping a diary is probably the most old-school yet effective way of recording your time overseas. This option is ideal for travellers who are less concerned with amassing ‘likes’ on Facebook or sharing their experiences with a broader audience. If you’re not much of a wordsmith, stick to the details of what you did each day and any noteworthy incidents. You’ll thank yourself in years to come when you can look back and reminisce on your days trekking across Asia or sightseeing your way through Europe.

Upload your experiences

There are now a number of new travel apps which offer travellers a way to record your journey and keep your loved ones up to date at the same time. One of our favourites is Trip Journal, the app automatically documents your experiences and tracks your itinerary in real time. This way, you can spend your time on more important things, like discovering the streets of London or eating bagels below the Eiffel tower while the app tracks it all for you. It even has the option of sending real time updates to your loved ones with photo, journal and video uploads to keep them green with envy.

Stay connected

Grab one of our prepaid SIM cards before you leave home. You can touch down with access to data, calls and texts and you’ll know exactly how much you’ve used, which means you won’t have to fret about amassing huge roaming charges. What’s more, if you download our TravelSIM AU app, you will have the option of sending your travel location to friends and family directly from the app to let them know exactly where your travels have taken you. Now there’s no reason to lose touch with the real world – unless you want to, of course.
