TravelSIM - Frequencies

What frequencies does your mobile phone work with?

  • Sometimes it's hard enough just to work out what model your phone is! But you will need to know this:
    • Hopefully you have kept the box or the user manual
    • Sometimes the model number is on a panel under the battery (not on the battery, on the phone under the battery)
    • If all else fails, try calling the person whom you purchased the phone from, they will have recorded the phone model on the paperwork
  • When you know the model, you need to find the frequency (sometimes called GSM band, Mode, functionality)
    • You are looking for: GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 / 850
    • If you are going to Japan or South Korea, you will need: WCDMA
  • We think the easiest way is to type in your phones make and model into a Google search
    • example: Nokia 6230i specification
